Could I get rid of my sanitation service provider altogether by going completely green?

In theory it's possible to not create waste, or recycle everything. However, most cities won't allow you to stop solid waste service on an occupied residence. The ability to recycle you waste would depend on where you live as well. We have a very impressive recycling system in my county, but I can only recycle plastic beverage containers, all other plastics go to the landfill. I've made many changes to reduce the amount of plastic in my life, but they are inescapable.
