Christians please read?

I think the biggest problem I have with Christianity is that an all knowing God created Lucifer knowing that he would turn evil and eventually set up shop downstairs where he would torment God's other creation, man. Who, it should be mentioned, God created imperfect, at the same time knowing that the vast majority would go to hell. Now, the first thing out of any Christians mouth is that god gave us free-will, yadda, yadda, yadda. Well, why did god do that if he was aware of the incredible suffering that would come of it. Wouldn't it make more sense to create a perfectly benevolent being designed to keep him company? I believe that was the original point anyway. It's just all so bizarre. I used to be Christian until I started really thinking about the whole thing and one day I realized that all of it, God, Satan, the evil of man, it all goes back to God. God created all of it. That makes him a pretty messed up being. Your thoughts?
